2026 Annual Fund
Enormous Challenges—Greater Hope
The building closed for a time. The Food Pantry didn’t.
2026 has been a year of enormous challenges for the Allston Brighton Food Pantry—and a year that has given us even greater reasons for hope.
We began the year undertaking a major organizational transition, restructuring our operations to build a more sustainable future. Then, in February, severe winter weather caused extensive damage to our building, forcing us to close our doors for months while repairs were underway.
But the Food Pantry never stopped serving our neighbors.
With the help of our extraordinary staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, we continued distributing groceries outdoors throughout the winter and spring. On June 13, we welcomed our neighbors back inside a renewed building, with a more sustainable staffing structure and a clearer vision for the future.
Today, the Allston Brighton Food Pantry is emerging from this extraordinary year stronger, more resilient, and ready for its next chapter.
And our work has never been more important.
For more than 50 years, we have been neighbors mobilizing neighbors to feed neighbors. Every week, families, seniors, students, immigrants, and working people turn to us for groceries, fresh produce, and a hot meal shared in community. Some face chronic food insecurity. Others are navigating a temporary crisis—a lost job, an unexpected medical bill, or a household expense that makes it difficult to put food on the table.
Whatever brings our neighbors to us, we believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right, and that no one should have to face food insecurity alone.
Help Us Turn Greater Hope into Lasting Impact
Our 2026 Annual Fund supports the everyday work that makes our mission possible: purchasing food, preparing meals, coordinating volunteers, maintaining our facilities, and sustaining the staff and infrastructure that keep our programs running.
The challenges of this year have reminded us how vulnerable even well-established community organizations can be. But they have also shown us what is possible when neighbors come together.
As we welcome new leadership and look toward the future, your gift will help us build on the progress of 2026 and ensure that the Food Pantry remains a reliable source of food, hospitality, and community for years to come.
Please consider making a gift to our 2026 Annual Fund. Every contribution, whatever its size, helps us feed our neighbors and strengthen our community.
