Food Baskets

On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month* we provide food baskets to members of our community in need from 10am to 1pm. Food baskets contain a variety of items per household, depending on availability. Our goal with our distribution is to reduce food insecurity and provide free, nourishing food to the Allston-Brighton community. Currently we serve around 90-100+ households.

We do ask that recipients of food baskets provide us with their name, address, and number of adults and children in their household.

*Please note that in the months of November and December we only have one distribution day on the third Saturday of the month. Yearly schedules of exact distribution dates can be found at the church.

Community Supper

We provide a free hot, nutritious meal to 80+ guests every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The meal is prepared fresh and cooked in our kitchen by our Food Ministry Coordinator. Before the pandemic, we offered a sit-down meal in our church’s dining room. Once COVID-19 hit, we continued providing meals, but transitioned to take-out meals to ensure the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff.

Community Fridge

In 2021, we began hosting a free community fridge/pantry that provides 24/7 self-service access to food and supplies that people can take and leave as needed. The Community Fridge is located in the parking lot of the church building at 404 Washington Street in Brighton.

Nearly New Thrift Shop

The Nearly New Thrift Shop is open on Wednesdays during Community Suppers and on Saturdays during Pantry Distribution. This onsite thrift store sells greatly
discounted (most items are only $1) clothing, shoes, coats, household goods, kitchen appliances, and more, with all proceeds benefiting the Food Pantry. We also offer “Thrift Store Dollars” to provide items for free to those in need.

Community Resource Specialist

Created in response to our community’s need for assistance in other areas (housing, employment, health care, etc.), this position connects people to needed community resources. We are expanding this work by having recently hired a part-time Clinical Social Work Supervisor in December 2022, and we intend to begin a social work internship program and onboard our first intern in 2023.
